Reading over last quarters activity, I'm trying to determine how they managed to lose almost half a billion dollars. That is huge. What could have caused such a massive loss? Was it to do with Priv? There's no way they could have lost such an amount with the rebranded Dtek50, correct?

Nobody seems to be talking about this. But to me it seems huge. What caused such a colossal failure?

These aren't cash losses, or losses from current business streams. That's why they reported breakeven on a non-GAAP basis.

Inventory and real estate market adjustments.

Uhmmm...the reality of the situation is that Blackberry has sustained over $1 billion in losses so far this fiscal year, had a decline of revenue in excess of 30%, phone sales of only 400,000 and is being forced to continue to write down assets that are worth far less than they are carrying on their books. GAAP accounting is real and gives a true look at a company's financials. Blackberry has absolutely destroyed itself as a company.

I understand how accounting works, yes.

Analysts are more concerned about future income streams, as the 5% increase in the stock price today suggests.
