i'm new to smart phones in the last year and i have a question: do other brands and service providers of smart phones provide their own smtp service, so i don't have to use my own, like blackberry/verizon does?
for example, my company provides pop3 email access over the internet, but not smtp, so i use blackberry's smtp service to send email from my work account. i was recently helping a coworker setup a tmobile g3 and it appeared that he needed to provide his own smtp service.
maybe the second part of this question is, who is providing the smtp service for my blackberry storm? blackberry or the service provider? (verizon, in this case).
BlackBerry provides the smtp service when you set up a mail account in BIS. With Windows Mobile, you have to use your own smtp. Not sure about Palm, Nokia and Apple--I assume they don't provide smtp either.
