I just moved to USA from Canada and signed up with SPrint here. Text messaging back to CAnada is $0.20 per message and unlimited plans do not cover international messaging.
Is there some sort of service that I can text for free to a non-blackberry internationally?
I've read here that you can use Google Voice to send text messages using data instead of SMS. I don't have it so I'm not sure if this is true and unfortunately it's only available via invite which you have to put yourself on a waiting list for (unless current users have invites to give out?)
You have to call Sprint to see if Canada is international.
I called Verizon and was told Canada isn't international as far as SMS goes. I've double checked my bill for additional fees. None have appeared for SMS.
I do know I was charged international for calls I placed while in Kelowna. That was eight years ago though. Things change all the time.
