    Well since I joined CrackBerry, I have been on my little soapbox, claiming Android represents the commoditization of smartphones. Others have stated soon all phones will be smartphones. Now with specs, screen sizes, and most devices connected to the cloud, could there be a day when consumers don't rush to upgrade?

    That's still a ways away. At the moment the smartphone is still being defined.

    You'd be waiting a long time.

    People still regularly upgrade desktop PCs and laptops.

    Same with televisions, which have been "commodities" for a long time.
