A smart phone that isn't very smart
- I am currently on my 3rd tour, 2 with verizon and now 1 with sprint. All three have show the exact same problem in that if I install a app, any app from BB world or the mobihand store, there is a 50/50 chance that it will hose up my bb with a 552 error and force me to wipe and reinstall everything. As I see it this is not a very smatphone if I can't install applications. Previously I had a bold with at&t and never had issues, however at&t get no coverage when I live so I have to use one of the CDMA providers.
So now I don't know what to do. Neither verizon nor sprint have any other phones that I would want to use and I can't switch back to at&t due to no coverage and tmobile coverage is even worse. Or I can keep the tour, but just use it as a 'dumb' phone and not install any 3rd party apps.
The issue with the 552 error is that even once I get the error and connect it to DM and uninstall the last app I installed that doesn't fix the issue. I ran the 5.0 leak for a few days and had no 552 issues, just other issues that keep me from using the 5.0 leak.
Not sure there is really anything I can due but suffer until RIM updates the tour OS, but I am hoping someone has a suggestion.09-25-09 09:04 AMLike 0 -

I would contact your carrier's technical service department. See what they have to say. This is the first that I've heard about this sort of problem to be honest. Were the Tour's on both carriers running the same OS? Was one OS a newer version than the other?09-25-09 09:33 AMLike 0 - I have run the carrier OS, .40 I think, along with a leaked .53 and a few hybrids and all the 4.7 OS have the issues for me. The last time I even went as far as installed one app at a time, ran it and did a battery pull. They all worked fine. Then I installed one new app this morning and got the 552 error. Uninstall that app via DM, but no luck on getting it to run work again with out wiping the OS.
I have found a few people with the same issue on the blackberry.com forums, but no answers.
While I can use the phone without installing 3rd party apps fine, that defeats the purpose of having a smartphone.09-25-09 09:44 AMLike 0 - wow that's crazy every single app ive download has ben fine since i got mine almost 2 months ago and ive download alot of apps, maybe its one certain app you keep installing that's causing it i don't know what else it could be that's strange.
