Simple way to clear a BB (and remove IT policies)
I think I've found a very simple way to get rid of IT policies. I wasn't really trying to get rid of them, but I did - and it's not that hard. First some background - I have a Bold 9650 on Verizon. I originally had email and calendar setup on BIS. Then my company got a BES Express server. When they went to connect my phone, they successfully pushed all of the IT policies, but the calendar got screwed up (everything was doubled). After my IT dept and I farted around with my phone for a while, it got more and more messed up and eventually would not connect to the BES server at all. However, it still had all of the IT policies in full force (password, encryption, etc...)
So I did a factory reset today, following the Blackberry support article KM18998
KB18998-How to reset the BlackBerry smartphone to factory defaults
It is easy to do, but takes a little time. I noticed that it put my device back into the state in which I purchased it. All of the 3rd party apps I added were in the dowload folder. So I moved them to where I wanted them. I had to reregister several of them. But this isn't really that big of a deal.
And I noticed that all of the IT policies on passwords, encryption, etc... were gone. In my case, they'll be added back as soon as I reconnect to the BES (which will hopefully go smoother this time around). Just thought I'd pass this along in the hopes that it proves useful to somebody else.
