Ha ha ok. I'm a Cowboys fan. Enough said on that. You will never hear me publicly complain about their performance or lack thereof. I cannot control them, but I can control what device I use. So can the complainers. That being the factor. Control!!!

Exactly my point. You have a choice. They have a choice!!!

Why do you want a phone to be competitive? My phone does what I need. Call quality, push email, bbm, texting all day, everyday, with a physical keyboard.
And I hear lots of complaining about the Dodgers too. Guess what? Complaining won't help them start winning!

BTW take note BB are competitive, all the others are trying to get on RIM's level. What's this I hear of a notification light coming to iPhone, everyone else trying to improve security standards, email, build quality, sound quailty, form factor. Need I say more. They all want what RIM already has. I'm sorry but RIM is on top and will be for a long time.

Blackberry Maker's Misfortune Tied to Not Being Competitive | PCWorld
RIM recently also lost another million users while android gained 6.5 million and apple gained 3 million.

To say that RIM is on top and will be for a long time is no longer valid. In the past RIM was on top.
RIM is like the Lincoln Towncar - once a great luxury car but never kept up with technology and trends. The only thing keeping them going are the fleet purchases by chauffeur/rental companies. RIM's numbers would have suffered more if it wasn't for the corporate accounts.
Please keep in mind that I am a BB fan but like I mentioned I am also a realist. Unless RIM is able to make drastic changes in both technology and marketing I can only predict a declining future. I am sure many here will agree.
Well, do something useful and predict the winning lotto numbers at least, bud.

Bud, why bother replying if you don't have an valid & intuitive post? Oh, I did win my state lotto 7 years ago.
Its an open forum, so I also can offer my thoughts here.

and so can all the complainers! lol
Dear god I agree, thank you for this post!

I agree, it is an open forum but in my opinion thoughts and responses should be more relevant to the thread topic. A post like: "Well, do something useful and predict the winning lotto numbers at least, bud." is not beneficial to anyone and is not in anyway related to the discussion on hand.
I still see everyone else trying to do things RIM has already done. Numbers don't lie. Thats true. All those articles tell me is that other people are taking action. Not complaining. I am not trying to make anyone stay, i just want them to be happy with what they have. So much negativity, and its going no where.
Currently there are other devices out there and they are not necessarily better, but thats why the numbers have shifted. Those devices meet a different set of needs. RIM as i stated is working hard to bring us new and better things hence the 9900 and PB. Acquisitions of top notch companies, implementation of a whole new OS, and other advancements are all examples of that. They are competing, and thats real.
People who persist in bashing RIM are not adding any value to CrackBerry.

Yes this is a very open thread, so i ask "What has complaining done for you lately?" Ask yourselves, did it get you what you wanted, or did you have to take action?
I don't think complaining on a forum is productive. But I did complain to my insurance company and get my car a very lovely paint job. Sometimes complaining works out.

Well you switch but some people actually want their desired firm to do better than they are.
For you to say that Blackberry is competitive because of some blinking light (that other phones have also had for years) and build quality (Apple, HTC, Moto, Samsang, Nokia are and have been on par better than BB) is just blind bias. Yes I understand that there are those of us who are content with the devices that do the bare minimum of doing txt and email well. But there are more of us that would like to RIM at least give us the option of a device that does more than make calls and send text.
Im not saying that I expect RIM to all of a sudden join the arms race full on, but I think they will do well to give those of us that want more than just a glorified feature phone with a good keyboard something to look forward to.
The days of "ZOMG!!! Its a phone!! It makes calls right??......Then be quiet!" are over. SMARTphones are meant to do much more than that and are meant to be competitive with other smartphones. Many of us want a BLACKBERRY that can do the things such as actually good web browsing, games and apps because we like Blackberries. But RIM is not (not to be confused with CANnot) delivering. So complaints come about.
And as far as your "Then I switch" comment, many people do just that after they have become annoyed enough. But, no one wants to give up on a company they like/have been with....soooo they complain about their needs not being met rather than just quit with no expressed reason.
The problem is that RIM is just very slow to answer....resting on their laurels possibly....And many people have already jumped ship and enjoy other platforms. However the complaining has obviously worked, if not too late. This is expressed in the large jump in certain specs between the 9780 and the 9900 (i.e. 50% more RAM, DOUBLE processor speed, much better screen resolution, 720p video etc.).
Basically, If no one had complained you could expect for September to bring us a Bold 9790 (instead of 9900) with the same processor, maybe better screen resolution, probably still with 3G-only chip and only on one or two american carriers.
Complaining on a forum won't get anyone anywhere. But I did complain to my insurance company and now my car has a lovely paint job. Sometimes complaining is effective.

Complained to ATT about the "Smartphone" sold me not being very smart and they are giving me the choice of another device.
All the other manufactures are fine tuning and strengthening their product line by mirroring what already has been in BB heritage since it seems that they already excelled in other areas (ex. screen res). However, BB seems to neglect that mirroring aspect to improve what they lack. What is preventing RIM to produce more cutting edge / trend setting berries? I don't know. What I know is that I been loyal to RIM for 8 years and the Torch 2 will determine if I will continue to be a berry user.
I can only guess that most of the negativity are due to the frustration of loyal berry users who are tired of seeing other more advance devices flood the market. The frustration only increases when RIM releases a device/s with aged specs. Many of us are use to RIM being the trend setters not the company who needs to layoff employees due to slumping shares.
In the end, buy whatever phone and then be happy with it. No sense in spending time rehashing these complaints again and again.

By all means complain, but to a limit. Like Tequila said doing it here is virtually pointless. So many of the same people have been complaining for weeks, months, and years. Give it a rest and go see if the grass is greener.
And are you seriously gonna sit there and say that what other companies are trying to do is not a competitive stand point. Minimize it if you want but to them its a big thing. No RIM may not have been the innovators of certain aspects, but currently they've got quite a few things in the bag. And the others are trying to follow that lead. Plain and simple.
People can say what they want to in a open forum as long as they are in the forum gulid lines. There is no need to get smart mouth with others if you don't agree with them. I for one have the wifi issue that many 9650's have & so far there doesn't seem to be a fix that work's in all case's. For a phone that cost 500.00 with a120 HR on it you would hope every thing worked so I think Rim should have a fix for it since it is a large number giving trouble. I am sure if the forum breaks the rules of posting then a Mod will step in & let us no it is getting out of hand. I like BlackBerry's this is the fith one that I have had & I do expect it to work as it was made to work. If some one buy's a top of the line BlackBerry then they expect it to have all the bell's & whistle's on it.

Based on what? RIMS CURRENT DEVICES!!!!!! Is the Playbook neglecting this aspect. Is the 9900 neglecting that aspect? BB's bearing the new QNX OS is that neglecting. Open your eye's to the future, you've got to look ahead because you'll never advance if you're looking back. If the complainers cant be patient enough the wait for the next big thing then they should beat feet. Constantly complaining aint changing a thing.
Im not saying the other companies arent taking a good idea and running with it, but cmon dude, you dont seriously think that having an LED light makes a phone the best??? LEDs have been commonplace on phones in general since forever. Lately, RIM has not been an innovator in anything. The last thing innovative they have doon was the tocuhscreen on the Storm/2...and they have yet to re-implement it.
RIM needs to take a page from Apple and Google and do some copying of their own. If they dont, those other companies, who already do most things better than BB, will start to infringe upon the competitive advantages (however few) that RIM still has. Like you said, Apple is soon to get the almighty indicator light. Also, activesync is no worse than BIS/BES, Apple battery life has always been pretty decent, and some android keyboards (physical and virtual) are pretty awesome...2 Examples: the G2/DesireZ has a truly awesom physical qwerty, I played with an Inspire today and typed just as fast as i do with my Curve (NOTHING is better than my 9000).
