Shrinking RIM Inventories Show Further Glimmer of Hope
Research In Motion Ltd.s inventory levels may be one crucial metric that could determine how well the company is positioned to handle the release of its next-generation BlackBerry devices.
In the quarter ending December 1, RIM shipped approximately 6.9 million BlackBerry devices and 255,000 PlayBook units.
RIM now has about $457 million in inventory in the third quarter of 2012. Thats down from $1.027 billion in the quarter that ended on March 3 and places the company in a better position to get rid of the rest of its BlackBerry 7 devices before the launch of the new BlackBerry 10 models.
