I would love to come back to Blackberry phones but what would convince me that BB10 will be the operating system to go for by the end if this year 2014.

    Too early to tell.

I mean, in February 2013, nobody expected to install Jelly Bean Android apps directly onto their 5" BB10 phones, did they?

    Hi,

My first smartphone was Blackberry curve 8520 back in 2009, then 3 years with Android and now with WP Nokia Lumia 920. I was willing to buy z10 but was unsure of it's future. Have been following developments and still think messaging wise BBs are the best. I have a lot on my contract yet 2015 summer.

I am hoping Blackberry can come out of this recession in their sales and get back up there.

Sheesh, the end of 2014? Way too far out to think of what could convince you to get a BlackBerry in December. Your best bet is to either give BB10 a go in the coming months, or just wait until it gets closer to the end of the year to see if there is any compelling reason for you to get a BlackBerry.

They should have a new premium device coming out later this year, supposedly with a physical keyboard. Are you a touchscreen guy? Or still like QWERTY?
I think it's fair to say at this point that using a BlackBerry makes you stand out a little. Some people have derided me, but then when I show them the Hub and other features, their reaction typically is "damn...my iPhone can't do that stuff. "

I can't believe it's not a simple "yes". It?s not like he's asking if he should get a tramp stamp.

This. Get the z30. Bb10 will be here for a long time to come. They've got money in the bank. Enough to outlast any contract you have to renew to get a new BlackBerry at a discount.

    Do it!

The ramifications of a tramp stamp are much easier to predict.

I am in love with my z30 and won't trade it for anything except a slider. The paratek antena and huge battery keep me going for much longer than any other device on market.

You have spent 3 good years away from BlackBerry because you were unsure. I guess you will remain unsure no matter what.

A better question would be, What should I do in 1 years time when my contract on my Z10 expires? I love my Z10 and am no where near done with it. But a year from now my options will open up. Will BlackBerry bring out something new and exciting to keep me?

I'm hopeful and sure at the same time that they will

Even though I just got my Z10 back in December and have thus far been happy with it, I'm almost certain the new devices will be even better then the Z30 and Z10 by far

With the fresh blood John Chen is bringing in, I'm sure they are going to be producing some head turning devices

I'm actually expecting a z10 in the mail until the z30 is launched on at&t. Might as well since it's upgrade time.

by the years end or rather before they have another update you can probably buy. But now it's risky like BB is gambling now by doing this implementing of Android Open OS now (the most risky OS) open for all vulnerable kinds of malware. Instead of having a controlled Android apps which allow a certain apps (which are checked by BB) to be downloaded.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

I am a bit of a techno freak so thats why I went to Android because back then it was a new thing! I am open minded so now am trying Windows Phone experience which was better than Android but lacking in many areas.

It's the deriding bit that might annoy me. I have not met anyone I know and who friends friends know who have a BB10 device and thats surprising for me in UK.

As i said so far the development in BB10 from 10.0 to 10.1 and 10.2 and now 10.2.1 has been more progressive and responsive to user needs than any other operating system updates in a single calendar year 2013. The features are great especially the HUB which in my eyes is the most innovative and intuitive feature of BB10.

Maybe I can get a blackberry 10 device on the sidelines I just what to see it going on as a platform beyond 2014 2015 hopefully.

P.S i loved my QWERTY BB curve 8520 back in the days but don't mind touch screens, lets maybe wait and seewhat new devices Blackberry unfolds this year.

Kudos for Blackberry sticking around even after so much market share loss. We might see it come back up as the Dark Horse fighter

    Good luck !

Surely if everyone who are thinking of buying a BlackBerry 10 but are putting it off due to the financial situation may well help BlackBerry pull out of the situation they are in. BlackBerry 10 devices are far better than 7 and earlier devices.
