Well,

Windows phone has had a more robust ecosystem than BB10 for a while not.

That having been said, blackberry has left the phone business.

I doubt Windows phones would fit into that strategy.

What makes you think their current device division is profitable? Even if it was, adding in R&D, legal, etc. costs to develop yet another comatose platform would be little more than burning money.

Not to put word in the OP's mouth, but I read it as him asking about software development such as BES, SecuSmart, etc. If that is the case, the new strategy as a "software company" certainly has to keep mobile devices in mind. Except for BlackBerry devices of course. They will do absolutely nothing for those.

Divisions? They really don't have the employees to justify that. BlackBerry is practically a startup at this point. More like, the guys in these cubes are working on project X, these cubes are working on project A, etc. Plus, a "division" implies a long-term commitment to whatever and they are not going to organize themselves by platform. More likely, they will organize by concept.

Windows 10 mobile has slightly less support from the MS CEO than BB10 has from Chen. Go visit a Win 10 mobile forum and you will see more unhappiness about their future than on this site about BB10.

Actually I heard they just couldn't wait for the formal announcement that BlackBerry is now owned by Apple and will continue to sell Android based phones, and will be soon updating the LINK and BLEND Windows applications, as well as BBM and HUB+ for Windows. So it's a it's one big happy division!

Hmm. Reading that, I had the thought that if Apple bought BlackBerry, they could use it and abuse it to try out weird things (like physical keyboards) too risky for "true" Apple products. As long as they had keyboards we'd buy them, right?

Then I remembered: Apple abuses their users already (see: all those I/O ports Apple foists on its users, then forgets about a gen or two later), so what purpose would that serve?

Yes they should. Along with a WebOS division, a Tizen Division, and a Sailfish division, Symbian division, BADA division and a Meego division. A division for everything, phones for all.

WP: No point - small market share, and little demand for a Hub.

As long as they are pushing out their own version of Android, it makes sense to share those already developed apps with the rest of the Android market and try to monetize them. But if they drop their version of Android (how could they license it anyway.. they could only give it away as part of a package.), and the Apps have to be profitable all on their own?

Probably a smart move to make those only a month by month subscription....

Pretty sure he meant just in Windows Phone and probably iOS as well due to design difficulties.

It WOULD be nice because a Windows Phone version would mean trivial effort--if any, with UWP--to bring the same thing to desktop. Unfortunately it'll never happen.
