Just saw a commercial for shark week on the discovery channel which said brought to you by the new BlackBerry Q10 and Z10. Just thought I would share. Any marketing is good.
That remains to be seen. At this point all that has happened is BlackBerry shelled out a ton of money to have their ads prominently placed during the airing of the shows. If that translates to greater brand awareness and/or increased sales, then it was a good idea. If not, it's wasted money. That is how sponsorship or "brought to you by" works.

Shark Week is a good thing to be part of. Maybe it's just because I live near the beach in California, but every year people talk about Shark Week in the days prior and nonstop during.
We're also getting in the "back to school" timeframe, where parents might be getting their kids phones, or college students get phones before going back. I guess any time is a good time to put the thought of BlackBerry into people's heads.
This is good! Hopefully the ads will be good ones that will really show what BB10 is capable of. I was started to get worried since I haven't seen anymore commercials lately for BB10..the last one I seen was a Q10 one, but it's been weeks since I've seen it.
They sponsor Defiance and Continuum on SyFy as well.
I think this is a good marketing strategy. Even if the show doesn't have a BB10 device in it, seeing the BlackBerry sponsoring title shot will put a little ear bug into your brain.
Good ads! If they show the keep moving or Super Bowl ad it will be yet more money flushed. They need ads showing what the device can do!

swipe up!
They need ads that focus on the swipe up (gestures), and show in a fun and funny way how to wake the phone and swipe around on it.
people need to be made curious to try it and need to have at least a basic knowledge on how it works when they do..... the 100% gesture based OS is the one distinguishing point....so make hay with it
