"Hi! How can we help you?
As of January 1st, we no longer offer new Gold memberships, hotel and car bookings in the app. On March 31st, WorldMate will be removed from the stores. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. We wish you successful travels ahead."

I've looked around and I can't find any other information on why they are ending their service. I've been using it since I moved to Android and lost BB Travel.

This is one of my top 10 apps for sure and I will really miss it. I find it hard to believe that the void it leaves behind would not be filled by someone/something. It has been mentioned that Tripit is one such app. Does anyone here have any opinions about it's usage (likes and dislikes).

yes tripit was the first that comes to mind as a replacement. I have used it before and it works well. Not quite the same as WM though

Tripit Pro costs $49/year. 30 day free trial.

There's a comparison chart on their site. The only thing I would really want above the FREE version is the

    "Receive real-time flight alerts
TripIt Pro sends instant alerts to your device for flight delays, cancellations, and gate changes so you can act quickly."

Google Now replaces that portion perfectly. No need to pay the premium for TripIt.

Maybe this is one reason why WorldMate is going bye-bye?

yeah google now works great for things like that. Dont even have to do anything as it will see the flight info if you book it with gmail account and automatically tell you when you need to leave for airport as well.

It does all that without having to pay for an additional service.

Easy to see why WorldMate went bust.

Probably not but they will know where your baby is traveling, what it eats and what it wears. Unless you order the Complete Amazon Tinfoil outfit for said baby!

I noticed in the Twitter feed that some folks are really disappointed that they took the ONLINE version down without warning, taking Trip History that I gather some folks counted on.

I guess they HAD a lot of users: "Join over 10 million travelers who rely on WorldMate"

I guess that made their bundle of money and are using Google Travel to plan their itineraries.

TripIt will likely be fine. It's owned by Concur which is a Business Travel and Expense Management platform, which itself is owned by SAP. Heh, maybe Chen will replace BlackBerry Travel with Tripit.

I wonder if this explains why all my BlackBerry Travel flights from last year reappeared in my 2017 calendar and some of the flight months were wrong...

On a related note regarding travel. . .

As enterprise and business phones, it amazes me that there never was a Concur app. I am always ridiculed by my colleagues as they take receipt picks and upload them to create their travel reports easily while I can't.

I downloaded Google Trips. It isn't the same full-featured service. If you don't have an email with a confirmation, you cannot enter it manually into the system. The 'sister' app to WorldMate was BlackBerry Travel which is basically BlackBerry branded WorldMate so I assume that will be going away too (although the website doesn't mention it and you can still log into the desktop portal unlike WorldMate).

I gladly paid the $10 per year for the Gold version of this app as it is so incredibly useful. This is very sad indeed.
