BlackBerry seems to be always low key in their marketing .
I never saw a BlackBerry commercial on TV till about 2011. The Bold commercial with the neon bikes is the first one I ever saw.

Maybe BlackBerry intends to let price cuts and word of mouth to do their marketing for them. If enough people buy them because they are cheap and the find out that they are a pretty good phone, then they tell 2 friends and so on and so on......

Big whoop, an in-store display...who cares. Most consumers still think BlackBerry is only for business and there's no marketing telling them otherwise. Walmart shoppers will pay no attention to the BlackBerry display.

It's not the amount of advertising that's killing BlackBerry, it's the quality of each technique that is bad

Dude I live in NY and NJ and I have never seen a blackberry stand like that in all the walmart or targets even the bestbuy I checked out. I wish they did though I would love to see BlackBerry stands everywhere.

I have yet to see this display in any Targets or Walmarts here in Arizona...if this is a newer thing than it's great to see.
You know, a thought has occurred to me - it might be too little too late - but no matter what, Blackberry really re-established themselves back in the smartphone conversation. They are legitimately out there, are they not ? For weeks watching the Daily Show and Futurama on Comedy Central, I saw tons and tons of the "it's Time" Q10 ads (which I think are quite good). I'm sure there is some positive to take away.
Q10 now available on Sprint, lots of business users on Sprint, AND Sprint surprisingly just cut the price in half. They'll get something out of this going forward.

The Best Buy in my city has a very run down looking kiosk for BlackBerry and not one is a functioning device. They are all dummy phones. The mobile rep guy said that Best Buy has almost stopped ordering them due to sales. The Apple and Samsung areas have reps their to promote and show off their devices.

They should cut down on some of that advertising spend and use it to lower the price of the device instead.

Compare the Nexus 4 for $200 vs Z10 for $500+, or any of the other dozens of Android phones that are free after rebate vs $199 on contract and maybe they can see why one is dominating market share. Build the customer base first then worry about margin after you even have customers to make money off of

Marketing is everything my friend. Yes deals are great and I'm sure would help but marketing is probably the most important part of selling phones

I would never criticize them for not trying to market their products. I'd just criticize their execution in those attempts. Unfortunately, execution in marketing is no better than their execution of production operations.

Those magazine ads seem very dull to me. Not to be a critic but were those pics taken with a q10? The colors look very washed out.

Saw a large BB display ad at Nassau airport (arrivals) in the Bahamas yesterday.

I've also seen BB ads in most mags that I read (Fortune, Bloomberg, Forbes, etc...).

I was at a big Best Buy in Torrance, California, and was happy to see a BlackBerry display sort of like the one the OP posted. Unfortunately, all the devices were dummy units, and this display had a tv screen that is supposed to show off BlackBerry 10... but of course it was off, even after I pressed the blue button to start the video.

That white Z10 looks so nice though, even though it was a dummy unit.

They really need to consider the fact that most of the people BlackBerry wants to target are the laymen, the people who know squat about the platform and who aren't business people or the workforce. They need to start changing up a little on that front.

I just came back from a trip to Washington state and zero BlackBerry presence in Walmart or Target, or kiosks at the mall.
