Pinis confident about whats in the pipeline, and says hes seen specifically strong demand from second and third-tier players, some of whom are even lining up to put BlackBerrys own BB10 platform in their phones. He says BlackBerry will maintain a portfolio in the hyper-competitive US market as well.

Absolutely, I think many hardware manufacturers especially in Asia would have great interest in BB10 including Blackberry world. However, there is a problem. Chen was sent out to kill BB10 because it was a non US operating system. His missions was to kill it. Because of this he cannot allow BB10 for third party HW manufactures.

This is really a shame because BB10 would live on if Asian third party manufacturers would develop BB10. It's really a shame as BB10 is the best operating system out there.

Oh, I find it completely believable that the Head of Devices (of a company which has just announced that it won't be making any more devices) is talking-up the future of his department.

It's what he's said that is unbelievable.

Other companies interested in putting BB10 in a phone?!

    LOL

I don't think we will ever see John Chen officially admit he wanted to kill BB10. I think that the actions from John Chen speaks for itself. We have also lessons learned from Nokia.

The software John wants to sell are the applications.

Basically, you will never see another BB10 phone regardless who manufacturers it.

If BB10 devices 'continue', it will be jammed into hardware you'd never consider buying and it'll be dumbed down to almost feature phone levels. You would be lucky if it even includes BlackBerry World. Tiphone, a part of the joint venture BlackBerry partnered with, literally made a business out of copying BlackBerry designs lol.

Lol that may actually be a good thing they makes clones. Now that they have the BlackBerry keyboard patents to use it'll likely be what pkb people end up importing.

Ah-ha I knew someone had used his direct quote:

The move also doesn’t mean the death of BlackBerry 10, Pini says. BlackBerry is currently working towards its 10.3.3 release for existing devices and the OS could even see new life in the future.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see the software in another device,” he says. “But I couldn’t tell you when or where.”

I think Amazon should license BB10 from Blackberry and give it a go. They have the talent, marketing, money, and learning experience from their recent phone failure.

I still take what they say at the Earnings call as more fact... the stuff that comes out afterwards is more fluff.

It's funny how we always, have to "wait and see" to know for sure what BlackBerry will do... will they release the PKB or won't they? Will any other 2nd or 3rd tier players licensing and sell BlackBerry phones in "our" market? Will anyone bother licensing Android from BlackBerry, or will it be EOL for yet another OS (BlackBerry's version)? Will BB10 rise from the dead like a Zombie, or will it fade away?

The scary thing is I'm not sure Chen or Pini even know right now...... their hoping someone steps in to do things for them.
