It highlights several things Samsung product can do and others can't, in the form of users' discussion.

BB10 has plenty of things that can be viewed as different and event better than others, but because they are not known by user, they become learning curve disadvantages, instead of strength in BB10's value proposition.

    Truth hurts.

I think we all can agree advertising is not one of BlackBerry's strengths. I think they're relying on consumers to do the work for them via "word of mouth".

How has that been working for them?

Didn't Samsung spend 14 billion on marketing last year. BlackBerry had one commercial that I seen and I didn't even see it on TV, maybe they had another one.

The problem is when BlackBerry does spend money, it's like a waste.

I saw several BlackBerry commercials while streaming content from websites, but they were only up for a few weeks IIRC.

Same stuff they did last year. I would like to see BlackBerry do one of the sort while also giving reasons why to have BB10.

How do you compete with a mammoth like Samsung when its budget for just marketing could buy out the Blackberry company twice and have enough left over to still spend a few billion MORE on advertising than Blackberry currently does?

It's clever in terms of showing against the competition. But i'm honestly getting tired of seeing Samsung ads everywhere. Literally every channel, website, YouTube video and they sponsor everything lol. It's just getting old. I don't mind their products it's just the constant advertising.

    Okay my rant is done.

I' not sure there is any coffee. When three consecutive CEOs largely ignore advertising, it starts to look less like an error/oversight and more like a company policy.

Stating the obvious. Samsung is mass consumer products that markets many products and segments. So it would be reasonable they have to be better at marketing by shear practice and frequency alone. BlackBerry can definitely learn from Samsung and others...however the negativity surrounding the brand is always a major obstacle to whatever messaging they put out over the commercials. Hard to overcome, but definitely worth the fight.

You missed the point. It's the content that is being discussed not the amount of ads.

It may not have been coffee they were sniffing when they approved that Super Bowl ad.

Samsung also has much more money to invest into marketing and making commercials. Which is why their advertisements are so much better.

True; although I can see what he's saying about paying for that content. However, if it's maladroit content it wouldn't matter even if money was no object.
