L Series I can believe, but N Series sounds suspicious. There have been no leaks (which suggests not in carrier testing), and the Dev Alpha Cs haven't been given to developers. Two weeks later sounds suspect. Surprised your friend is so open.

RIM's entire focus out of the two products coming to market with BlackBerry 10 is the L-Series (I will not call it Z10, hate the name) so I think it would be safe to assume that the time gap between announcement/launch (Jan. 30, 2013) and the release date will not be more than 3 weeks, in my opinion. I'm more confident in a two week gap, just because they are going to make damn sure that they have all their stock ready to go and at the various carrier stores, retail outlets, etc.

That would put the N-Series at a March (first week) release.

Does not sound very plausible. The "N" series is a re-work of the current 9900/9930. I can not see it taking any time to re-tool their supply chain. My guess is that the devices will be released contemporaneously. It isn't like they have re-invented the wheel with regard to the "N" series. It will have the new OS and some changes but RIM recognizes what an exceptional device it is already.

In RIM parlance a few weeks could mean anything from 1 week to 1 year in the future. Past performance is a strong indicator of present credibility.
