Rolo Secure Chat - BlackBerry Secure-rolo-image.png

    Hello all,

This is Momday from Rolo (www.rolo.chat)
Happy to share that our partnership with BlackBerry is coming to fruition with the upcoming release of the Rolo Secure Chat for Android and iOS.
We share the same core security as BBMe (E2E encrypted messages stored @ BlackBerry servers and more!).

We trust that BlackBerry Secure Technologies are second to none and are the mission to put that technology in every smartphone regardless of their kind.

We are currently in beta for a couple more weeks and shall you be interested in testing it out, here is a link to the beta preview:

Would love to have the community feedback on this new chat application secured with BlackBerry technologies.
Thanks in advance for your time!

    Peace,
    Momday

Good to know, thanks! Good luck!

What is unique about your app, compared to Signal for example?

Will you open your system to independent 3rd party security audit?

Also, specific advantages or features over BBMe for instance? Thank you and good luck....

    Good question.
We are not aiming at replacing WhatsApp or Signal or the likes for everybody but replacing them in the context of work / business communications, especially for the SMEs who are using those consumers app for business.

As such we have built business features such as file permission control or audit trail management on top of the BlackBerry technologies.

Will definitely get an independent 3rd party security audit.

Interesting concept, the 3rd party audit would be nice. Good luck and hope it all works out.

On the text messaging part, we are almost the same.

Otherwise here are some upcoming differences:
    - End-to-End encrypted group calling up to 35 participants.
    - File permission control
    - unsafe URL detection
    - Jailed broken / root detection
    - Text translation

Curious what you are using for unsafe URL detection? Presumably a threat intel feed from somewhere or does the product fetch and analyze the URL live prior to the user visiting?

You say "in partnership with BlackBerry". What is BlackBerry's involvement or are you simply using BlackBerry's SDK?

The SDK is a part of it.

What platforms are you and the people you’re trying it out with currently using primarily?

So it's just 3 of us playing around with it for personal use to see if it's a worthy substitute/alternative to BBME. We're all on Android though I realise i that there is a browser based platform as well.

For now, only the Android and iOS apps are considered ready for testing.

@SatoshiX Somewhere in between. Though nothing would happen without with the user explicit consent

What is your intended revenue model?

We know that Telegram and Signal do not monetize users' data, and are free to use because they operate on donations.

Will you ultimately become a subscription-based service for Enterprise?
