The Canadian carriers are in the same position as other world wide carriers that want a 3rd eco system to break the current duopoly, My guess is that they feel they now have it! And its time to sell!

The fact that you have to give up your current phone first?

I'm more surprised that z10 users on Rogers aren't raging over the price slash (yet)...
Rogers has a trade-in offer (CAD50.00) as well in addition to a hardware upgrade rebate (50.00) therefore you could save CAD100.00 and the BlackBerry Z10 from Rogers would cost CAD99.99. Their current CAD99.00 offer is for a BOGO promotion not a single device purchase unless you get the hardware upgrade discount and device trade-in discount.

Roger had a 3 days special discount of $50 refund on $149 Z10 sale last week. For whatever reason, possibly in respond to Fido, Wind launching Z10. Anyhow, It is over now, and price is back to $149.

This is all.part of Rogers anual year end sale that goes on every March, it bears no reflection on how a device is selling or not. Let's not forget that Rogers had the Z10 for $39 for a couple of weeks and had only recently put the price up, I don't seem to remember anyone getting worried then.

Finally picke up my Z10 from Telus today.

Awesome promo. $50 bucks off when you sign for a new Z10 + trade in your old BB (I gave them my really old 8830 and kept my 9900) they gave me another $50.

Total cost for the Z10 was $49 when you sign for a 3year.

Yep. Try the 99 now and see if folks in the U.S. will pony up 199 or higher later.

$199 won't fly in the States. Even with a 2-year contracts (vs 3 yrs).

At that price, the Z10 will have to compete with the biggest guys (iPhone 5, HTC One, and possibly, SGS4 and others).
