    With the products in the pipeline, I agree that RIM is appealing, but I don't see Microsoft trying to get them anytime soon in the current rally. The market is too volatile and it's not like RIM is trading on the floor like they were five years ago when they were $5+/- per share.

    If I were a shareholder of RIM, I wouldn't vote for anything under $90/share in the current circumstances.

    Of course, all this speculation might help drive RIM's share prices up...

    edit to add: Also, I'm not convinced that Canadian regulators would allow a takeover.

    As long as windows mobile doesnt become the standard OS on RIM devices ... If tat were too happen, i dont think you'd find many happy faces on CB ...

    I believe that Microsoft has approx $24 billion in Cash and Short Terms.. that puts RIM at price target of approx $43/share.. RIM closed at approx $55.75 on the Nasdaq today.. plus, shareholders have to vote as well.

    Microsoft purchasing RIM is NOT happening.

    Yes, Microsoft CAN offer MSFT shares on the purchase, but why would you want to own them compared to RIM shares?
