Nice. I just read that here in Johnston County NC that there's only 1 job for 212 people. So any news about new jobs in NC is good.

I would love to see RIM move the servers to the US. Then we could avoid the Canadian IP address issue on certain websites......

Sounds more like a manufacturing plant more than a server farm, but that would be a great idea. They pay a ton to bring pipes across the border. Not only that but think about how big the pipes will need be once VZW rolls out LTE.

Any word on how big the shop is going to be?

I'm wondering why they don't do major consolidation in North America and improve QC on their phones.

With Dell pulling out of their newly (2005) built plant in the Triad area, RIM would be a great addition here. Especially if it is as rumored a manufacturing facility. I bet they have a hard time getting tax breaks out of the local and state governments though after the Dell debacle.

Put all the servers within the jurisdiction of the Privacy Abolition Total Review Intelligence OversighT Act? NFW, never in a million years.

That would be awesome! I live around the Triad area and I am not too happy with my current employer. The only area I could think of that RIM would actually consider is Research Triangle Park aka RTP. That's where everyone is at. That's a bit outta my way but it would be lovely if they set shop where Dell is right now.

Actually they do have some sweet giveaways. They have a USB drive wrist band, 2GBs, with the BB logo and name on it. The USB plug forms the clasp closure, it's actually pretty neat. I got one from RIM, after a meeting with one of their reps after I got Storm1, number 4.
