RIM Launches The Most Boring Anti-Apple Campaign I’ve Ever Witnessed | TechCrunch

Seriously, does RIM even have a marketing team???
Marketing fail, after marketing fail, smh
Wake up !!!!
The Apple commercials I see are pretty boring. Soft (yawn) music and showing dead-brain features
Yeah, but at least they actually SHOW the features.
I still get the "wow! Blackberrys have touchscreens?" Smh

At least they are staying consistent across all continents. Lol.
Lmao it is so true. Just this morning one of my coworkers saw my phone and asked if it was a brand new model cause she had never seen one before. Then we started laughing about the foolish try typing 1000 emails a day on a touchscreen commercial they have been playing. Now that deserves a smh.
It's unfortunate, because I agree that the whole "Wake Up!" thing was pretty lame. If there was something new and exciting coming up, sure, but it was a big letdown.
RIM needs that CMO. ASA(F)P...
I agree pretty non exciting lol
You know, this is true. I know plenty of people who left Blackberry for other phones simply because they didn't know about a lot of the newer features that BB has. And a lot of them can't recall seeing many BB commericals where as they have seen a lot more commericials from RIM's competitor's.
I moved the thread to News & Rumors and changed to title to indicate this is a RIM Australia ad NOT a RIM ad.
If its that boring why in the name of crap have you posted it so many gawdawful Times!!! Maroon!
I bet that guy was watching the ad on his 4G ipad... o wait... nevermind...
I think we can all agree that it got our attention, however that being said i was a little disappointed that it was just a countdown to a well worded ad. I did like what was said but the build up was to much for something so small, we will have to wait and see what else they do with the "wake up" campaign. Keep in mind this campaign seems to just be in Australia so hopefully it stays there lol. Hire that CMO Thorsten!
maybe it was the countdown to the START of the campaign and we will see MORE things happening soon...
It got plenty of people talking about Blackberry world wide so love it or hate it. it got the brad out there. I think the message after the falsh mob could have been better but still people were talking about black berry.
Now with BB10 phone ads they just have to show how the phones work.
I like this "lame" advert 'cause it gets the hater's panties in a frothy wad. If BlackBerry wasn't such a formidable foe, no one would have bothered noticing....that spells success in my book. :)
I woke up but I just want to go back to sleep.
This begs the question: why would a "formidable foe" release such a weak ad campaign?
I cant even blame the marketing people on this one. The campaign would've been fine if there were an actual product to show instead of... nothing.
Nothing's changed with RIM... they're still as delusional and clueless as ever.
Is there an excuse for any company to release anything weak? No. I wouldn't say it was weak really. Alnamvet has a point. Apple releasing a non-4G iPad is weak. For the biggest company in the world, what's their excuse?

I don't see it as an "ad campaign"; that would suggest this is an ongoing world wide event, well planned using sophisticated and professional pitch men. RIM accomplished unknowingly, I'm sure, what it hasn't been able to do in a long time, and that was to draw attention to itself, negative or otherwise, resulting in the pogues dominating the blogosphere being set on fire; and judging by some of the posts here, it has worked. This "Occupy" styled one time event will be talked about for a long, long time.
"maybe it was the countdown to the START of the campaign and we will see MORE things happening soon..."
I agree with FSeverino. I just think they got the ball rolling till the light bikes arrive! ;-)
They should all be shot!
What a disgraceful waste of money and an insult to the intellect of their so-called "new target market".
Wake up RIM the days of slander campaigns have gone by the wayside. Companies who have any ethics and confidence in their product offerings don't need to resort to such underhanded tactics....but wait a minute, look who we are talking about!
If they were as good at communicating their product benefits as they are at putting another nail in their own coffin every time they open their mouths, they would be as successful as Apple.
