    Help.

I'm typing this for a friend, and we are not too technical. My friend had all sorts of data on his blackberry - 5 years of important information. His blackberry died - they said it's his motherboard. Is there some way to retrieve the information without paying these guys thousands of dollars?? We need help fast!!! Please!!!

    Short answer, no.

Even if you ripped the flash memory out of the phone it would be useless as you couldn't send it to another phone without butchering it. If you don't have a backup file! You are out of luck.

I am surprised someone with 5 years of very important data wouldn't perform backups.

I agree with Radius on the backups. If you have technical skills and the right equiptment, you could possibly transfer the flash over to a new motherboard but that is a long shot as other chips on the old motherboard might also need to xfer over for it to work.. Good Luck.
