I do work for another Canadian company called Monitors in Motion. It is a Computer Monitor arm company based out of Toronto. MonitorsinMotion.com. Anyway you can see my preference for Research in Motion.

If you again change the name to RIM you are gonna loose visibility again.

Keep it simple as people have already started accepting BlackBerry as a popular brand name.

Just make it a slogan "RESEARCH IN MOTION "

Dont confuse the customers too much.

And if someone is suggesting such thing then they dont care much about BlackBerry.

I like the company to be separated from the device. It should define it and not be part of it

I am a big advocate of having your brand/company and your product having their own names. It has been helpful for me when releasing new product lines in particular, while at the same time it has been useful when dealing with my business account hierarchy's with Rogers Business Wireless. Organizationally speaking it has really made things convenient, while for marketing is has been quite useful too; :"BlackBerry Q30 - brought to you by the genius minds at RIM" is the sort of thing that builds a strong brand after all (I could have written a better line, but it's pre-first coffee, so there...).

Now wouldn't that be confusing to use the former name of the company as a slogan for the company after changing the name of the company, lol......the name should never have been changed in the first place, imo..

Umm....we are all talking about the name of the company that makes BlackBerry devices, not the name of the devices.

I don't think it comes down to anything to do with what sounds better.

What people forget is that Research in Motion was about much more than BlackBerry phones, in terms if research, patents and a much greater potential as a parent company.

RIM was a well established company, and BlackBerry was one of it's well established brands.

To me as a consumer / investor the name change might have said that RIM was making its sole focus BlackBerry phone products. Which isn't necessarily true.

It seems you have put in more marketing effort, pre-coffee, than BlackBerry has in at least two years. LOL
