I think they should stick with BlackBerry. My girlfriend was due an upgrade earlier this year. (Her phone, I wasn't bored of her). I asked her if she wanted a RIM. The finger marks lasted days on my face.

I think BlackBerry is a better name, if it wasn't tarnished.

I don't agree with the name change it never made sense to me.

I think that flip flopping company titles is not the road to go - just think of the bloodbath the media would have with that..... BlackBerry it is - now get going on making it live again.

How about keeping the name of the company as BlackBerry but rename the devices. Just like Apple calls their phones "Apple iPhones" BlackBerry could just keep the names but use BlackBerry as the name of the company but Z10, Q10, Z30, Q20 as the name of the devices. I sort of think this is what Thorsten was going for.
Maybe try calling the devices "BlackBerry QPhone Z10". BlackBerry= Company, qPhone or bPhone = short for QNX Phone or BerryPhone, and Z10= the device.

They need a name that is neither RIM or BlackBerry!

Both names are so tainted and toxic in the eyes of the public (at least north america), that they would probably do better with a new name.

So many people simply skip the BlackBerry section at stores (assuming the store still stocks them) JUST because they see the "B-word" on them.

If they had a name like SkyPhone or whatever, people might actually give the phone a CHANCE.

That's the problem with BlackBerry's brand right now -- it's gotten so bad, people won't even LOOK at them.

above the RIM...that name was so cool....BB didnt need to a change in name just a change in thinking and innovation to reflect the ever changing world we live in....Research in Motion epitomized that for me...always changing..at least it would have been better than that 'keep moving' thing they have going

Not sure if you've noticed but that's what BlackBerry has been doing for over a year now!

RIM was almost unknown in consumer land and even in Enterprise it was mainly only the IT guys who knew who made BlackBerry phones.

That didn't stop RIM's image and name becoming just as tarnished in the tech world as the name BlackBerry in the consumer world over the last 4 years.

Both names are tarnished and a new name would be an untrusted unknown. QNX is meaningless to almost everyone, even IN the tech industry. They may as well just stick with BlackBerry as the company name and ride it out. The legal name of the company is still Research in Motion anyway isn't it?!

That's the point. People buy what's new and different. BlackBerry 10 is different but the name BlackBerry is tarnished beyond repair. Don't rename the company, rename the device. The QNX Z50 would sell more than the BlackBerry Z50.

Marketing efforts would be more successful also because consumers wouldn't hear the name "BlackBerry " anymore even though the Company "BlackBerry " produced the device. They would hear something that's already proven to be successful to some (industry folks familiar with QNX) , and be introduced to something new and different to others.
