Official statement from blackberry. Only classic has stopped production. BlackBerry Classic only BB10 device out of production, company says | Pocketnow
So some government spokesperson, probably in an official capacity, wrote an email that circulated in the Senate that was inaccurate and misleading. Why does that not surprise me.

    Just read this article:
    BlackBerry setzt voll auf Android

Maybe some of you understand any German and for the others I will translate what this article says:

1.) It's official that BlackBerry will go 100% Android.

2.) It's true that the Classic is the only OS10 device that is running out right now, BUT the Passport will run out in August and the Leap in September.

3.) BlackBerry will support OS10 at least until 2018.

4.) Rest of the article says only rumors about upcoming Android devices.

So if this is true - BlackBerry did only say the "half truth" about dying OS10 - they only spoke about the Classic.

But please take this with a grain of salt.
I don't know where "Heise" got it's information from.
All in all they work professional, but as BlackBerry is quiet to that - all should be taken as a rumor.

I don't wanna spread "wrong information" in here - but TO ME (at least) all sounds legit and covers with other information.

Wishing or thinking BB10 will go beyond 10.3.4 or ever any new BB10 devices is like wishing your parents lied about the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus. It's not about being a naysayer, it's simply not being in denial. I'm pretty sure that I've owned more pre-BB10 and BB10 devices than most here and I've moved on to PRIV. Compared to my Android phones, Blandroid is a decent compromise.

I know you're going for a portmanteau of BlackBerry and Android... but "Bland" isn't really working...

    Berrydroid probably sounds better.

You are correct.. I can't spell portmanteau without your help...at the same time, some would say my choice is bland since I just want simple and easy to use. Thanks for the help Toni

How was it inaccurate or misleading?

Verizon and AT&T are the ones saying they won't have inventory of these devices. You have to remember in the US the LEAP doesn't exist. Verizon only had the Classic which has been EOL, so for Verizon... they are no longer selling any BB10 devcies (Classic is already shown as out of stock). For AT&T they still seem to have some Classic inventory and could continue with the Passport if they wanted... but the Passport's form factor keeps it from being a general release.

This was an internal memo, not some announcement to the world. And internally - between Verizon, AT&T and the Senate purchasing department, it seems to be the TRUTH.

Various DOC agencies have also just announced that they will officially end BlackBerry support in the September to December 2016 timeframe - meaning all issued BlackBerrys must be turned in and replaced with iPhones etc by the end of the year.
Just found out it's not just BlackBerry devices - but that BES12 as a whole will be dropped.. talk about BlackBerry wanting to keep customers by at least offering the MDM software, even if it's just for iPhones. Not even that is working anymore..

They were already out of production longtime ago.. They'll keep officially selling them because they've some stock and no company just goes on to open a store only to sell a single device.. you will see them phased out when the two android devices come to life.. They'll focus on the Priv & Hamburg first, then the Rome.. It'll be this Trio.
I think that the PRIV will soon be phased out as well due to poor sales.
