That seems like a good way to lose some (although very small portion) of your user base, Snapchat is a fad, and many people signed up and used it for a short period of time and then neglect to close their account and uninstall. I understand wanting users off of third party apps, but this would lead me to just uninstall both, it's not exactly an essential app/service.

Twitter has intentionally developed a public API for 3rd party developers to use in their apps. Snapchat has not. That's the difference. And it's a big difference.

I'm not up for feeling sorry for Snapchat today. I use it on my nexus because the kids use it. But its basically stupid and they are lame for going after the third party apps.

It sucks, and I'd be dismayed, but bottom line is that I'd be infinitely more dismayed if someone appropriated my intellectual property. That's what it boils down to.

Just as I respect BlackBerry's need to go after Typo, I have to respect this decision.

When 3rd party Snapchat apps can be built to steal snaps and leak them online, it's a reasonable measure for Snapchat to block 3rd party apps. Nothing lame about it. Snapchat has to ensure that apps accessing their service perform within the security and privacy expectations from their service. They can't reasonably do that if they allow 3rd party apps.

I don't use snapchat. I don't know what the big deal is with this app. Deleted it months ago from my iPhone. Going after 3rd party apps is kinda low lol

To be fair in a way I'm glad they're doing this. Yes, I use snapchat and I'm not blocked (yet), but 3rd party apps and the option to save pics are destroying their name.
