as has been reported in many threads yes there are more cuts coming...the actually number varies though
Layoffs are inevitable. But they, as the saying goes, won't bite off their nose to spite their face. Part of their "CORE" program, is to streamline operations to make things as financially efficient as possible to reduce the slope of the profitability curve. This will be an effort to become more efficient stretching out the timeline to allow BB10 to succeed. As stated everywhere, layoffs are a necessary evil. But they have to do whatever they can to allow for BB10 to launch and then, more importanly, to catch on.
lol is it wrong that it's a totally funny headline. Sounds like an epic porno.
LOL - how did they slip that headline past the editor?
I think they should ask for their money back for that one..lol
Lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That whooshing sound was the joke going over your head. :) :D
On the line! How tragic if all those RIM jobs are lost. Such a shame.
yes the headline is horrible joke too lol
Has there been ONE news report about RIM that hasnt been horrible or tried to be decent but was horribly botched in the last year?
What a nasty headline...
The people losing these jobs will be made fun of as 'one of the RIM jobs'
I wish I could give all 6000 people their rightful RIM jobs, but they're just not mine to give in this case!
#BOYproblems :o
OMG U guyz R sooooo immature!!!!!!!!
If RIM is going to cut 10 jobs out of 6,000, then 6,000 jobs are on the line. Makes sense.
and to think people claim they don't have good customer service
I always try to do my part to make up the slack.
In my honest assessment I do not foresee the BlackBerry 10 smartphone being released in 2012, but if RIM somehow manages to push it out the door there will be many deficiencies. And the current projected timeline for delivery in October is too late; 6 months is an eternity in the technology industry. As the churn continues with smartphone users choosing other devices these delays will inevitably be the final nail in the coffin of a one-time industry pioneer. Switching to a purely software and services company will bring further reductions in the North American workforce as cheap oversea labor is sought. International Business Machines (IBM), often disparagingly called India Business Machines, is the poster child for the devastating outcome.
Stay Calm? Be Bold? Let's Rock This? RIM is 0 for 3.

So you claim that 6 months is an eternity in the technology industry? Which Blog did you get that line from? Tell me how much changed in the industry in the last six months?
Did Microsoft suddenly get more marketshare than RIM? Or did Apple come out with 3 flagship devices? Did Samsung start releasing 15MP camera phones? NO! not much has changed in the last 6 months! and I don't see much changing till the release of BB10! Even if Apple does manage to release their iPhone a few weeks before BB10, I'm sure BlackBerry user would want to wait just a few more days to see the next device from RIM before they jump ship. Not all Apple customers will be available for upgrade once the new device is out. Not much is gonna change. End of story
RIM just came out with new devices last september/october, I don't see why people would jump to BB10 devices 6 months after purchasing BB7 devices? Then customers will complain that they want their money back! This is plain stupid! September/October release of the BB10 devices is a timely update. I certainly can't have my 9900 to be considered an outdated device 6 months after its purchase.
This one is my favourite.

its a timely update if RIM wasnt behind so much. They needed these phones a year ago really.
And 6 months is a long time in the mobile world. There will be an iphone 5 released or about to be released by then, google will release atleast 3-4 more top of the line phones. There will be new chips introduced and everytime RIM demos something from BB10 the competition has months to introduce into theirs before RIM even has BB10 out there in the market. These 4-6 months are the most critical since RIM was formed.
I don't know if they can fast track the OS to get finished but they need to and it has to be right. They NEED to get something out there ASAP even without all of the apps if the big develops themselves say their app will be coming. Every day they are missing out on new customers and existing ones leaving for the others.
I'm waiting but not everyone is or will. They also NEED to change their image ASAP in the USA. Tough job but it can be done.
When is that chip suppose to be available for mass production?
I dont know of specific ones, i am just saying there are easily major 3-5 chip manufactures out there releasing faster and better chips for phones to run quicker, better graphics and better battery life. This was one the of causes for the delays according to RIM if you remember.
