You can set a delivery confirmation. Messages > Menu > Options > Email settings. Only for email though.

You can also view this for BlackBerry Messenger. D=Delivered and R=Read.

Verizon to Verizon SMS will show a D for Delivered.

it will only show D for email, SMS. Not R.
