Just got a blackberry this weekend, a Curve 8330. Using Verizon's service. With my older phones, I could send SMS texts to people within verizon with lengths >160 characters. The blackberry prevents me from texting once it reaches the 160 character mark.

Is there a way around this? Or a way to type more than 160 characters, and have the BB send it as multiple texts after I hit send (to people with and without my service provider)?

    Thanks very much

also, any other advice for someone new to blackberries would be appreciated I've spent the greater part of this weekend downloading apps, setting it up, etc. Love this thing

get the App Beyond160, you should be able to find it in appworld. BB's only allow this feature if you are on GSM. CDMA doesn't allow for it. Beyond 160 is cheap and at this moment is the only solution.

Or use MMS. There isn't a limit.

160 works great for me worth the money. I tried the MMS route but not all my contacts could read my messages so I use the 160 and don't worry.
