A Question about Data
Hi, I just purchased a Blackberry and when it arrives I have to setup the BB data plan on Verizon. Its for personal use so I will be getting the $30 plan but it doesnt include unlimited data. My question is what exactly is data considered?
I'm a newbie and I feel a lil silly asking the question but its bothering me. Thanks :)

DATA is for emails, internet, etc. It is unlimited but not unlimited at the same time. there is a 5GB a month cap for data with verizon, but you should never hit that much.. i have only hit like 75 MB in a month. that is crazy web surfing streaming slacker radio and emails out the ***. lol i would check cuz the 30$ a month if it is verizon is the "Unlimited" personal use. $19.95 is the verizon "limited" data

So its 5gb of data...so when you go on the internet and browse that adds up your data?
I dont email a whole lot but and am an internet junkie so i am worried about that aspect.

When you go on the internet and browse it will use your data. if you don't tether (use your blackberry as a computer modem) there will be almost no way you can reach 1 GB let alone 5gb of data a month.
Streaming you tube videos 24/7 for a month according to my rough estimate would use maybe 700mb of data .
-
you have to go for unlimited data its the best for me only 15 a month never passed it.
-
I totally say go for unlimited data package ....if your going to use blackberry messenger, any web browsing, so on and so on
-
When I looked on verizon though they only had the $30 personal bb use package and the $45 corporate BES package.
I mean verizon already charges and arm and a leg for service do I don't want to add unnecessary charges especially if im not going to use it.

also the data plan doesnt include text messages right?
i thank everyone for their patience at my silly questions:D

Data doesn't include SMS.

Dude, I went with unlimited data when bell had it for $30 thinking "yes, I can surf and surf and no worries".
I only once hit 220 mb with youtube, bbm, email text etc. And that was the month I changed from my pearl to my curve so I was doing A LOT of OTA application and theme downloads and google maps because I went on a trip.
So I went from a $30 a month voice plan and $30 unlimited data to a $45 voice/500 MB combo plan and never looked back. Unless you are tethering (and verizon makes a separate plan for that type of data anyway) you wouldn't go over 500 without a concerted effort and never sleeping. And I'm a huge internet junkie, not to mention 2000 - 3000 texts a month.

the unlimited data is so worth it if you have to, cut down your monthly min. for phone use. i saved 25 a month doing this.

I have been on my phone A LOT since I got it and am only up to 100 MB of data.... so I can't see you going over
-
yeah i used it causiously the first month and only used 5MB, out of the 500 im allowed its tough to use alot of data on a bb casue everything is so compressed

Thx you've all been a great help!:D

Im at 84 megabyte and my starting on like the 9th or 10th this month... so you can say thats about 200 mb in 2 weeks... I havent even hit 1gb yet... lol...
