New QNX enabled BlackBerry to rock a front facing camera | PocketBerry

Looks like QNX BB will have a front facing camera.
As well it should. Indeed, the hardware in this phone at least must match all major features in the iPhone 5 and the latest/greatest Android punch for punch. ...[/SIZE]

I mean it better have a front facing camera. Can't come out with brand new hardware and software in 2012 and don't have something like this when dozens of phones already have it and some had it since 2010.

I expect all the qnx blackberries will have a front facing camera, it isn't actually an important feature despite what some would try to have us believe, but it is a simple way to expand the audience for the pb video chat.

I don't believe I will use a FFC but other people will. What they should do with a "superphone" is add everything they can think of so it will appeal to almost everyone. And then you get a choice of what to use(or not use) on the phone.

If you poll iPhone users, you will find that very few have used the FFC beyond just trying it once.
The frustrating thing with the iPhone is that you can only use video chat when you are on wifi. Which makes it pretty much useless when you are away from home/office unless you go searching for an open wifi network out on the road.

    +1
I'll never use it, but it's nice to see the option there for people who will use it... or think they will use it.

i foresee a lot of people walking into stationary objects because they are attempting to simultaneously: walk, hold phone in front of them to aim the front-facing camera, look at the other person on the screen, and talk.

Except that people have already been walking into stationary objects while texting/e-mailing on their phones without a FFC.

Haha. I've seen that video. It was on the news, I think BBC. I have heard they are now giving out a fine for texting and walking in the states. I'm sure it's only in select places right now though.

Honestly, there should be a FFC in the 9900/9930 and other OS7 phones. So to me, that the QNX phone will have one (allegedly), is not news to me, it's an expectation.

In case you didn't know iPhone users can also use Skype and Fring over 3G. Facetime is wifi only. Apple said that they have to work out costs with carriers to make Facetime over 3G. Who knows if that is true but it's clearly not something the device can't do because a jailbroken phone can Facetime over 3G. Having said that, I rarely use by FFC. Only to take pictures sometimes. it does come in handy. I don't think it's something necessary but it's kind of one of those things RIM almost has to do because it's out there. It would be the same reason the Playbook has a FFC.
