This presents the idea of a BlackBerry physical keyboard smartphone with an OLED screen beneath the keys. The keys are instantly changeable, to display letters or numbers/symbols, or ANYTHING really.

Now that... is a beautiful QWERTY Phablet I would get (If it were real)! Where would the HDMI & Charging Ports be? What would you make the specs and dimensions if it was to ever come to fruition?

That would actually be an interesting keyboard and it'd be pretty cool too!

    KUDOS man! Nice concept!

OH! Just wondering as well, how would you shift to numbers/signs or vice versa?

It's got a physical keyboard (tactile, clickable), but the keys have little OLED screens in them! Or alternatively, one large OLED screen beneath all the keys.

Oh that will be real cool. Wasn't there a keyboard for the PC that had the same concept for the keys.

Regarding visually programmable keyboards, I was always intrigued with the designs by Art Lebedev in this area, which were introduced some years ago.

He is now selling at least one version, but you do not want to know the price.

Probably the Lebedev design I just posted about.

I believe the concept was first shown at least 5 if not 10 years ago.

    Looks hot!

I'd prefer it to be how you have it but shorter in height. I can sacrifice some screen real estate for better ergonomics/balance. I like the idea for the keys, and that is what I've been imagining ever since the recent leak we saw of the Windermere(?).

    Nice work though.

i had the same proposition regarding the art lebedev keyboard some time ago in this thread [Fan-Made] Introducing the ALL-NEW Z50 (Ultimate Phablet)! [Archive] - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com
Sure vantage for production would be the end of a hardware problem (different languages mean different keyboard: japanese, arabic, european etc.) by a software programming the keyboard on users' needs.
Could be very good also to open what is most of the time a waste of space (keyboard usually interacts poorly with apps written for full-touch interaction) to specific configuration of a lebedev like keyboard tailored app by app.
For example while browsing, letters would vanish to let arrows appear for scrolling or some specific modes like reader, full web site mode, bookmark etc. we could define ourselves in the settings of the browser app.
Games could use it too for a more 'gamepadish' experience.
In my opinion that sort of keyboard with actual Q10 key shape (even a little bigger if possible) would be awesome!

This concept is truly the best idea. There are so many cool features in all of the recent concepts posted. I would love to pick and choose from all to make on badass device. Seeing how the rumor is for word predict now on the physical keyboard something like this truly could be coming.

    nice idea.
I just don't like the soft keys, but implemented on Q10 keyboard it would be interesting.
(a technology that would allow colour keys like Lebedev's example still has my preference though )

    Q30 - OLED Keyboard Concept-samsung_alias_2_big.jpg

I had the Alias 2. I liked it so much that I bought it three times. If Samsung released an Alias 3, I probably never would have switched to a smartphone.

But if BlackBerry can make a keyboard similar to this, i'd drop my Z30 for it in a second

I actually quite like this. I played with this idea in my own windermere concept but wasn't sure how to or if it would be possible to implement it. Your device looks really good!

This is the first next generation Q Series concept that actually looks beautiful. It oozes luxury and business. The only thing I would alter is the height. The balance is a bit off as it is a bit too top heavy, so it would need a bit of shortening. Otherwise, this looks absolutely stunning.

Now this is what a Q series BB10 phone should be like.

This keyboard puts the smart back in to smartphone, not just grafting yesterday's tech on to today's and hoping that people won't mind the mis-match.

Even I might be tempted by this Q phone, and I haven't used a physical keyboard BlackBerry or felt like I wanted to for a year.
