Currently on a Bold 9930. My contract with Verizon is up in a few weeks. So the question is, should I spring for a Q10 in a few weeks, or hold out for the Q20?

I'm a big fan of the trackpad and other buttons. I use my phone one handed very often. I love my 9930, except for slow internet browsing, email truncation, and lack of loading images up automatically in emails.

    Decisions, decisions.....

If you have the funds, what about getting both? We have no idea when the Q20 will be available, and you can get a used Q10 on craigslist/ebay/cb marketplace for about $250-$300. You can use that in the few months until the Q20 drops, and then sell the Q10 to help fund your Q20 on contract.

This is the issue I'm struggling with. I'm due for a new BB for work next month - the Q10 is available to me. If I get it, I'm locked to it for 2 years - I've become more and more interested in the Q20, but I don't think it'll release until the fall (just my own feelings) so potentially it will come out 5 months after I get the Q10. . . I don't have the funds for both What to do what to do.

I've been pondering the same question. But I've been starting to think that I should get the Q10. As of right now we don't know how the Q20 will look and how the trackpad will work with the device.

Wait for the Q20. If you don't like it when it comes out you should be able to get a Q10 at a cheaper price. Play the game and wait it out.

If you want a bigger screen and the extra buttons then wait for the q20. If you don't care and want a phone now get a q10, I actually like the q5 better and they are cheap now

If you need a phone now get the Q10 now. If not wait until BlackBerry releases the Q20 and you can compare then.

Get yourself a Q10. We don't know when the Q20 would be release. But as for now, play with the 10. I myself a fan of track pad. I admit I missed my bold 9930 ( gave it to my daughter) however Q10 is really awesome. But if you can wait, then goodluck.

Get a Q5. I picked up a white one the other day and I already have a Z10.

Q5 is cheap and a fantastic little phone, very underrated. That way you can not spend much and then easily afford the Q20.

Q20 will be released before the end of the year, according to Chen in his latest interview with Bloomberg

The q10 will be unique because it won't have the legacy style trackpad and call end call buttons that are coming back for the q20.

Take that for what it's worth, I have the q10 and love it, and will probably get the q20 or whichever device is the newest once my 2 year contract is over (I think I am 6 months in)

Why do you like the Q5 better if you don't mind me asking? I would consider getting one to play around with if they were under $200.

They are selling them for 150 off contract where i am. I like the buttons better, i like the spacing of the screen vs keyboard better. It has better battery life too. Its camera isnt as good but i dont really take pictures.

If you can wait it out, I say it will be worth the wait since you will.get the best of both worlds. But don't underestimate the power of Q10. It's an incredible phone and the gesture they incorporated into bb10 series are made for Q10.

Not sure how the gesture and track pad will work out. But I'm confident John Chen will come up with something creative.

Actually I have a perfectly good Q10 from Verizon that I am going to sell next week after I get my Q5

If you (or anyone) interested let me know. It would save me from doing the ebay thing

My advice to anyone when getting a new phone is to wait for a next generation device if you can. The q10 is starting to get old, though is still a great phone and is very high end. Also if you do a lot of text editing and work like that I would make sure I can get the q20. I've had this z10 for over 6 months and still am not used to the text editing things (coming from an iphone) either way it'll be the best phone you'll ever own

The 9900/9930 is an incredible device and I miss mine just thinking about it. You may be well served by just waiting for the q20, unless your budget permits otherwise because the q10 is a top dog.

I'm in the sane boat. My verizon contract is up and I really want physical keyboard back.

Touch screen keyboards just aren't for me.

U hope u can wait till the fall for the q20. My sister has a q10 and every time I hold that device, it makes me regret having my z10, well just a bit hehe.

    You could always just wait...

I love my Q10, but will definitely consider a Q20 when they come out. Expensive to switch after just one year, but I suspect it may be worth it.

My wife is sort of in the same predicament as the OP. Her 9700 is on its last legs, and I know she'll probably prefer the Q20 too. She likes her 9700, and hates touch screens (long nails), but wants a better web browser.

So while we wait to see what happens with the Q20, I'm going to pick her up a $150 Q5 as a temporary phone, and see if she can adapt to BB10 as it is now (full touch plus keyboard). If she can't, I'll get her a cheap second hand 9700 to tide her over.

The absence of scrabble on BB10 might be a deal-breaker for her.

EDIT: to make more sense in the context of the OP's question.

If your planning on using your upgrade, wait for the Q20. If you have a couple hundred bucks laying around buy a Q5-10 off contract or second hand. I have a Q10, I definitely like it, but I miss the trackpad.

I have an upgrade coming up in June, i'll def be waiting for the Q20 to arrive, I hope BlackBerry comes up with a nice design.

The Q10 is awesome, but I will definitely be getting the Q20 when it's released. Luckily my upgrade isn't until July so I won't have to wait long to grab the Q20 of ATT carries it anyway. ..
