A week or 2 ago there was a poll here on CB asking if BB should craft a phablet (tablet sized phone). Currently Samsung has their Galaxy Note with 5 inch display.

    As I was looking at the various rags, I found this article;

Bigger Is Better: Samsung Will Allegedly Slap A 6.3″ Display On The Galaxy Note III
Bigger Is Better: Samsung Will Allegedly Slap A 6.3″ Display On The Galaxy Note III | TechCrunch

In fairness I do have a Galaxy Note. The size is ok but the killer on that phone is battery life, or lack there of.

In my mind 6 inches that is way to big, but jut wanted to get your thoughts.

For me this will all be moot in 2/13 with BB10 and my upgrade.

I really don't like how large the standard screens are getting. . . I have my 7" Tablet (32GB WiFi Playbook, thank you very much) if I want something that big. When it comes to my constant-use phone, I'm very comfortable with the screen on my 9810; it fits comfortably in my hip holster (yeah yeah, some don't like it but I couldn't live without mine). I'm starting to come around to the thought of a 4.0 or 4.2 inch screen-size, but I think there needs to be a divide between phone and tablet/phablet. IMHO, up to 4.5 inches = phone; 4.5-5.5 inches = phablet; 5.5 inches plus = tablet. Either way, still excited for BB10!!!

The difference in size between the Note and the Note 2 is as follows:

    Note: 5.78 x 3.27 x 0.38 in
    Note 2: 5.95 x 3.17 x 0.37

The screen however, is 0.5" larger (obviously the diagonal measure helps a bit). Even if they go with 6.3, I suspect they'll do something to manage the total size. Who knows, maybe they'll get rid of the button and go with a capacitive dot or something on the bezel. As long as the total size of the phone doesn't increase drastically, I think people will like it, especially if they go 1080p as is expected.

I have been using a Note 2 for the last week, today I changed back to my 9930. The size was just too big for my liking, although it is an Awesome device. FoR me, it just wasn't functional. I like the size of the L-series and I think it will be a good functional size for me.

BB10 is the perfect size? The OS is the perfect size? Or do you mean the L-Series? Or perhaps the N-Series is what you mean? Or is it the rumored A-Series? Either way.. RIM couldn't be hurt by releasing devices with a varying range in size to please the plethora of customers it has. I know I for one would love a 5"+ BB10 device.

Just like with the Note and Note 2, there will be people who would like a 6.3" display. I somehow doubt it would be that successfull, however I also doubted the two current Note models would be as successfull as they are.

I think the ideal size depends on how you want to use the device, going much beyond 4.5" would hamper the use of the device one-handed for a lot more people, but if you didn't tend to use your device like that very much then jumping up to 5" or so in order to get a 1080p display seems like an obvious move.

For me, it is the 4.7-.4.8 models that seem pointless right now as they are still only 720p, not comfortable enough for one-handed use and lose out on some screen real estate compared with the 5" models.

I never thought that I would consider a device the size of the SGIII. But I LOVE mine.
To be honest, if the battery life had been better on the Note 2 and if it had come in red, I would have made the jump.

A six inch device might be too big for me, though.

I love my Note 2, and get 18+ hours on a single charge with it.

Personally, I want to get back to carrying one device again. If my PlayBook could make phone calls, I wouldn't need a 4" handset.

Years ago, I used to carry one of the original RAZR phones, a Dell Axim PDA, an MP3 player, and even a small camera. I felt like Batman with all the things clipped to my belt.

After getting my first BlackBerry, the need to carry so many devices dropped. By the time I got my first Android device, I only needed to carry it. But after getting a tablet, the larger screen opened up more possibilities, from better gaming, watching videos, and a better we experience. So now I'm back to carrying two devices... Four actually, since I carry my 9700 and PlayBook for work, and the Note 2 + Nexus 7.

Give me one device that does it all and I'll be quite happy.
