I am having problems with the GPS feature on my Blackberry Curve. Whenever I start the GPS function on Maps, all it shows is "searching for satellites. Everything is set correctly and it still doesn't do anything. I do a battery pull, then it works fine for a little bit and after awhile, it crashes again.

I shouldn't have to do a battery pull every time I need to use this feature. Anyone have any tips on how to correct this?

It helps to know which model Blackberry you have along with operating system. If it is an 8520 it will not have GPS built in.

True that. Only the 8530 has GPS.

8520 have to resort to celltower triangulation, which is not exactly great (GPS - 3m, triang - 1500m).

Check your settings, see if Advanced Options > Maps > Address Recognition is On and if everything is properly enabled in Advanced Options > GPS.

Sorry.. It's an 8530 with 5.0 operating software... If your suggestion is upgrading the operating system, it can't be possible.. My BB can't handle 6.0...

You may have to reinstall your OS. What 5.0 version are you running? Look in: Options > About. You will see v5.0.0.XXX

And why is it an OS update has to ge to 6.0? There are plenty versions of 5.0 still.

Did you actually try the settings I suggested?

Sorry for butting in on this thread diegonei, I get a little excited to help once in a while the more I get to know the inner workings of these devices.
