Why do some of my contacts double up the phone numbers?

Hi! Welcome to CB!
That happens almost everytime you load a new OS.
Do you have your contacts in gmail or yahoo? Do you use a third party app like ContactsX? When I switched to contacts X they all restored perfectly.

You'll never have a problem with contacts if you sync to only one cloud source at a time, and manage all of your contacts there. Do not duplicate locally.

I've been asked to "fix" other people's contact issues from time to time, and invariably they are syncing to multiple cloud services and have sim contacts to boot. Just a mess. Keep it simple.

I believe it is because you are syncing to multiple sources (e.g. multiple email accounts, Outlook, Facebook, etc.). BBY makes and entry for each one, or event a duplicate contact for each source.

Enter my nightmare. I should only have about 700 contacts, but my Z10 keeps duplicating them to the point where I have over 10,000 (that's ten thousand) contacts. At one point, I had over 17,000.

Android seems to handle duplicates well - just click to merge duplicates and it takes care of most of then with no problems. But on Blackberry, you have to merge each and every duplicated contact individually... and there is no app that actually does a good job at fixing it, either.
