If you can find a clearanced AT&T or T-Mobile PRIV for $300 - $400 it is a much better buy.

If you want the option of a keyboard... the PRIV is a much better buy.

If you want a totally unlocked phone, that is less than $350... the DTECK is the better buy.

If you want a better front facing camera (I'm making an assumption based only on spces).... the DTECK is the better buy.

The Priv is also substantially thicker and heavier. If that is important to you, and you don't require a keyboard, you may prefer to give up a bit of performance.

The Priv is out there for $300.. The AT&T unlocked variant received MM so that's a Plus.. You practically get a high-end BlackBerry for the price of a mid-range BlackBerry (DTEK50).. The Priv's design is fantastic.. You also get a better performance and BB's amazing PKB..

Priv $300 V DTEK50 $300.. Makes going for the Priv a no brainier.. Unless you're not into PKBs..

Since priv is available on some online sites at $300-400, it is much better choice with touch screen, pkb, form factor plus it really stands unique in crowd which is quite fascinating. Whereas Dtek50 is more oriented towards enterprise customers.Though it got some decent specs too compared to the priv but I'd go for the priv.

Having had the Priv for 2 weeks at launch last Nov, for me, even given the same price I would choose DTEK50, I hated all of the physical aspects of that phone, plasticky, too thick, who the hell wants a slider with a cramped PKB beneath? Anyways, that's my opinion.

You can get the Priv for nearly the same price as the Dtek50. It's obvious which one you should get.

Not necessarily. The dtek50 is a lot lighter and thinner. Performance is still very good too. Form factor is important to many.

I use both PKB and VKB so the Priv is perfect for me. The Dtek50 will be a great replacement for my son's Leap since it seems to be durable, light and pocketable. Plus the price makes it easier for me to swallow. I love my Priv and am glad that BlackBerry has come out with mid range version of its Android device.

    The PRIV is far better.

    Better Display - 5.5inch QHD
Better Camera - it has a larger sensor, OIS, Phase Detection, and dual tone flash.
PKB - If that is important to you.
    Better CPU/GPU
    Larger Battery

The DTEK50 is a real mid-range Android, it cannot be compared to a Priv, IMO.

I think we've waited long enough for BlackBerry to provide us with a decent camera. In fact, I wish they'd done it much sooner.

    The DTEK50 looks promising:
It's always a shame when you have to decide between a device based on price and specs.
But sometimes an optimized product can overcome spec expectations. Hopefully the specs compromise on the DTEK50 won't be obvious.

    Same here. Still shocking.

I got a Priv for 299 on eBay. If you can get one for close to that I think it is the device to have. The PKB isn't just for typing. And it has a bigger battery. Everyone can debate the 808 chipper but it does it all for me.

I don't use the pkb on my Priv as much as I thought I would. I'd like to shed some weight. Hopefully the Argon exists.
