Is it possible to turn emails off but still use data?

I was wondering if its possible to turn my emails off so I don't receive any emails but still be able to use data to browse the internet? And then switch on my emails whenever I need to get emails on my phone?

I am currently considering buying the 8900 or bold but I need to know if it is capable of doing that as I don't always need to get my emails on the go and I prefer not to have to pay data usage charges when I don't need to but I do spend a lot of time browsing the net.

You can always delete your email from your carriers BIS webpage.

On your BIS page you can select Do Not forward emails unless filters apply.
