I made a backup of my BB yesterday before I went to exchange it. I came home ready to restore, but my hard drive became too corrupted to boot. I am able to recover the .ipd files from the hard drive before I reinstall Windows. Can I install Desktop Manager, and use the old .ipd file that I copied from the old installation? I hope so!

Yes you can do a restore with the ipd file from the old backup as long as you have the other file that is associated with it (cab file).
