Is the tide changing? It seems that I've only been reading relatively positive articles from every kind of publication, today, after this Q4 earnings call. Or at least hopeful--and from big publications. It's great news if attitudes are finally changing. After all, who doesn't love an underdog?

Let's hope BBRY can gain some traction with these positive articles and start selling better.

Everyone loves an underdog, that's true. ASSUMING that underdog is WORTHY of being in the game in the first place. I wouldn't say that blackberry is not, but I also wonder if their time has not passed. BBRY were kings when their first-mover advantage was in effect. But Apple changed the game completely. And since 2007 blackberry has only declined. BB10 has proven itself a failure at market. I'm not sure that even WITHOUT the string of horrible decisions consistently made by management, (Scoffing at the iPhone/finally answering with the Storm/Playbook/BB10/trying and failing to sell themselves), blackberry can still offer anything .

I'm speaking primarily of phones. If they have a future at all, it's with BES.

And QNX. They're still leading car installations. They only thing holding BB10 back is apps. Android runtimes won't fix that, unfortunately. We need more native support.

Otherwise, my Q10 is far and away the best phone I've used. Going back to my iPhone 5 (which I've recently sold) is like using a toy. It's so limited and frustrating (say, playing a youtube song in the background--not possible).

You're the second person on CrqckBerry to bring up the playing songs on YouTube. That is so strange to me! YouTube is for videos! Why would Apple make the back grounding audio API's available to a streaming video app?! That's just crazy! ANY music app will play in the background, but people that use mobile YouTube to listen to music is obviously an edge case.

Also, QNX by itself won't save blackberry. QNX licensed their firmware to cars (and everything else) for years before blackberry bought them. Those licenses cost pennies. RIM payed a couple hundred million for QNX. Unless they do something BIG with it, (that DOESN'T require people to buy BBRY phones. Because that just isn't happening) QNX is pretty meaningless to BBRY's long-term survival, as things stand.

I saw this too, let's hope it becomes a consistent trend

I'm pretty sure it's extremely common to make youtube music playlists. You're out of the loop. Also, say I'm watching a video, got an email I need to read, I can let the video play and quickly pop into the hub and back on BBX. On iOS, it shuts everything down. Such an annoying OS.

BlackBerry started declining at Sommer of 2011.
Get your facts right. Q4 2010 was the first time when BlackBerry services surpassed 1 billion dollar! Afterwards device selling were declining and overall growth slowed down and in Q2 2011 it stalled.

Between 2008 and the beginning of 2011 BlackBerry was a fast growing company.
I talk about financial Quartals as reference!

You're talking exclusively about the financials.

I'm talking about failures of execution.

I agree. Blackberry isn't considered an underdog (they've been playing catchup since 2007). I think the term "one trick pony" is more accurate considering the company has yet to release a device that's loved by the masses (in the same way the curve/bold lines were).

iDon"t agree, everyone that tries the Z30 loves it, granted the masses don"t know about it but it is a fantastic device.

Is that a Z30...yes, yes it is.

I'm not discounting the z30, it looks like a great device (Solid improvement over the z10).

Since 2007? You must be joking! I don't get it, we all know the execution errors in the last year's. But your words are like BlackBerry sucks since other vendors make smartphones. And that's wrong.

Each of the examples I named are points where BlackBerry should have made wiser decisions.

The financial situation they're in is a symptom. Not the disease.
