WhatsApp is the most common IM app in Spain. Almost all my contact having it. Each day I having more and more contacts on my BBM list.
There is similar app here called Telegram and have more and more users every day.
BBM have the best Voice quality among all VoIP clients but I will still use WhatsApp

Could somebody help explain to me why anyone would stop using Whatsapp on the basis that it has been acquired by the biggest social website on the planet? I'm sorry I just don't get the logic. Is it because a lot of people have something against Facebook, what's the problem?

I uninstalled WhatsApp about 3 minutes after originally installing it and watching it rush through all my contacts and suck out all the other WA users, assuming I wanted to be connected to them via WhatsApp (no, I don't want to chat with my customers, suppliers and neighbors on WhatsApp, and I don't want them to see me as a "new" WhatsApp connection on their end). I've never used Facebook and don't plan to, so now it's disappointing to know that FB will still ultimately end up with all the contact data that WA pulled from my phone years ago. Totally creepy but not a surprising merger. And $16 Billion for a 5 year old company? WTF?

Facebook has been making an effort to collect everyones phone numbers�.. I refuse to give them access to my phone number, and with the purchase of Whatsapp, I can guarantee you they will find a way to get it� so nope..

Yes. It's called privacy and a desire to try protect it in an increasingly less private society. Two behemoth privacy vampires joining forces isn't a good thing in my book.

I actually think what's app is better than bbm. It takes too long to send messages on BBM, relative to what's app.

However, I think Facebook is going to regret this purchase. The valuation is insane and goes to show BBM is worth at least 1/5th the value.

Huh??? I've been using both apps for years and I've never seen what's app send messages faster than BBM only advantage what's app has is that you can send bigger files, other wise it's crap

I don't see why people would stop using it just cause Facebook bought it.....

It's still an awesome messaging app and I will continue to use it to contact friends that aren't on BBM

Yeah I'll keep using it. No one wants to use BBM in the group that I use whatsapp in so I don't have much of a choice.

Crap? Why, because it's not called BBM? What's bad about the app? It works well and does what it's supposed to do.

I use both however my friends on BBM are very limited compared to on WhatsApp

And the amount of times I hear " why to use BBM WhatsApp works just fine"

I am pushing eveyone to use BBM and only BBM. What is really a pitty is that I still have to use whatsapp to talk with people that have a normal data plan with legacy Blackberry devices ! they don't have bis plans in some countries...
now that bbm had voice on ios and android it can replace viber and whatsapp. The popularity of whatsapp is that it hijack your contact list hopefully people will wake up and stop being careless about their privacy

Never used it too much myself. Maybe 15 minutes total. Really hate the fact that it uses your phone number as a means of identifying yourself.
