Again I told you its called mitigation, I am NOT going to market with all my eggs in one basket let's put it like that.
That's exactly the point. Refusal to participate in the market would be the only solution. But I don't see that happening.

All I mean is that if you feel somehow more secure by not using WhatsApp, so be it. But that's just a placebo effect.

Read my previous comments. I am fully aware that what I have on the internet is not secure. That's a given.
With that said, I do not single out WhatsApp or Facebook. That would be silly. If you dig deep enough, you'll see that most if not all companies use and share your information in one way or another.
Privacy or one's right to it, is fundamentally a basic human rights issue and I don't care to have anyone tell me that they are going to take that away under the pretext of "keeping me safe"

I agree with you. I'd also want this world to be perfect, but alas...

True but we all can't just say we will throw in the towel and go with the flow. That would be a terrible.

Definitely not. Tried it for a few weeks but never liked the fact that it needed access to my contacts, deleted it- never looked back since then!

    No, i'm not!
atleast whatsapp 'somewhat' works on my blackberry. Said somewhat because this pathetic phone keeps hanging and cutting off the internet, forcing me to do a battery pull.and wait for 8mins to start up again.
Whatsapp works of normal data plan(Rs.120/month), whereas BBM requires additional Rs.129/month. I aint paying no money for a service free to Android,iOS and you BB10 people.

Never used it too much myself. Maybe 15 minutes total. Really hate the fact that it uses your phone number as a means of identifying yourself.

Posted by my device of choice. Might be a BlackBerry, might not be. It is of concern to you.
Funny that's exactly why I prefer it over bbm.

Facebook is not buying Whatsapp... Yahoo is.

Amazes me how many folks don't actually read the news...then go off half cocked with misinformation.

I used it for a while but deleted it a couple months ago. BBM is just so much better and if someone is too much of a jerk to give BBM a try, they are not my kind of person anyway.

I found WhatsApp to be kind of a ghost town anyway. I had about 40 contacts on there and the vast majority were idle. The ones that weren't are on BBM and enjoying it.
Yeah, I only had five contacts really using WhatsApp in the end. And setting it up with the phone number was a task initially. I went ahead and deleted it. Keeping things simplified with BBM and SMS now.

Just read this in Germany (source: http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/apps/...-954915.html):
Within the last 24 hours Threema (https://threema.ch/en/) got additional 200 000 users - that was actually doubling their original user base.

It would be interesting to see what the impact is for BBM ....
