i bought a fairly used bold 9700 which is already upgraded to version 6.0
but the memory space taken by the upgrade is 130mb. i need more space. can i go back to version 5? is it possible and advisable

also can some applications be transferred to memory card?

Apps cannot run from the memory card. They must be installed in application memory.
Downgrading is pretty much as simple as installing the upgrade. Remove the higher OS from your computer. Install the new OS. Remove the vendor file if not from your carrier. Use Loader to install. Should be simple.
Why not stick with OS6 and shrink it before loading. Worked well for me with 668 and gave me over 100 MB of application memory after loading. Only required a battery pull about every 2 weeks.
