70mil.. in a week? kik messenger only has 15mil total and thats been avaliable for ages

id guess 500k in a week because its a novelty and new which people will wanna try out, 20-50mil total on each platform due to being (reportedly) a stripped down version people will probably uninstall again and never bother to keep checking back for new features

I think that's really underestimating it. The 'Fake' Bbm app on Android play store got downloaded around 100k times just over the weekend. And m assuming that most people who want bbm on Android dint download it because they were smart enough to know that it's fake.

150k is just too small a number and would be considered a fail in my book.

Every BlackBerry user has at least one friend with an Android and an iPhone. So if each of us get one person to download it, we'd have 70 mil

It will depends.
I guess a million, but it won't be much more then that. It will have to gain a lot of traction.
But I'm really concerned that the first versions will be buggy, and that a lot of people will delete it really fast.

I think it will be organic. Hardcores will download it, but then invite people, who will invite people who will invite people ... over the course of time.

I doubt millions will download the day its out, but it could get to many millions over time, just as BBM itself did.

Apple won't have any problem with it. There are a ton of corporate BBM users who would switch to iPhones if they could keep their BBM contacts working. The Apple Store will probably download the app and set up the BBM ID for you if you ask. The timing will probably coincide with the launch of the iPhone 5s with a fingerprint scanner in a couple months.
