The first 2 that come to mind for me are, Back in Black by ACDC and Back in the Saddle by Aerosmith

personally i think Back in the Saddle would be the best choice. A really aggressive blackberry commercial and they are BAAAACK.

The AC/DC and Aerosmith choices have been used to death... plus it comes across as too brash - which RIM needs to avoid.

I think The Rolling Stone's "Waiting on a Friend" would work well.

Obviously when the commercial ends you want to make sure you don't give the impression that they're still waiting - so you need to show that RIM/BB10 has finally arrived. The "friend" aspect covers the loyalty to something familiar and trusted.

I think the music would work well with it - mostly instrumental with only the chorus lyrics coming into play (don't need they talk about women) and the beautiful sax playing. I think RIM should avoid loud arrogant type song/sound - the softness works well for Apple and Samsung commercials so it should be good for RIM.

    Great topic!

I could come up with hundreds but I'm not in advertising for a reason.

    I would go with:

Death or Glory - The Clash
Hey Hey My My (into the Black) - Neil Young
    Going Mobile - The Who

I don't usually agree with rap, however, "Without Me" just seems appropriate for this..

Leave out the 'We Are the Champions" until BB10 becomes number 1 in the smart phone market, after Apple and Samsung kill each other in their fight.

You go with what works. Plus my suggestion isn't as wimpy as the music on the Apple and Samsung commercials. RIM has to avoid looking arrogant and try not to irritate viewers.

I must say I have a running project on this topic.
So, let's use this as a test ... and a musicians/singers calling (please PM).
Basis will be to provide a vid with singers/musicians playing an adapted version of London Calling (The Clash). I have a multi-track playback (drums, guitar R, Guitar S, Bass, Lead voice, choirs ...) so that anyone could "karaoke" its own part and keep structure/tempo consistency.

This is the first throw of what lyrics could be (developers oriented / suggestions welcome) ...

    [HTML]
    <!-- STRIKE BACK CALLING -->

Strike back calling to the Berry nation
That Jam is opened and devs are coding on
Strike back calling to the underworld
Come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls
Strike back calling, now just look at us
Phoney Applemania has bitten the dust
Stike back calling, (they) say we ain't got no swing
'Cept we can touch what they've never believed

BB10 is coming, the flow is zooming in
    H5's rocking, Cascade is amazing
    Extend expected, Qn'X is connecting
A paradigm erra and I have no fear
Cause content is my law and I code with my fingers

Strike back calling to the imitation zone
Forget it brother, and go it alone
London calling to the droids of death
Quit holding out, and join in for the best
Strike back calling, and I don't wanna shout
But while we were talking, I saw you nodding out
Strike back calling , see we ain't got no highs
'xept for that alpha, with the glory rhyme

BB10 is coming, the flow is zooming in
    H5's rocking, Cascade is amazing
    Extend expected, Qn'X is connecting
A paradigm erra and I have no fear
Cause content is my king and I swipe with my fingers

BB10 is coming, the flow is zooming in
    Webworks rocking, Cascade is amazing
    Extend expected, Qn'X is connecting
A paradigm erra and I have no fear
Cause content is my king and I swipe with my fingers

    Now get this
Strike back calling, yeah, I was there too
And you know what they said?
Well, alot of it was true!
London calling at the top of the dial
After all this, won't you give me a smile?

    (Strike back calling)

I never felt so much B-like (echo)

How about Arch Enemy's "We Will Rise"?

    Tear down the walls
    Wake up the world
    Ignorance is not... Bliss
So fed up with the Second best
Our time, Is here and now

    I am the enemy
    I am the antidote
    Watch me closely
    I Will Stand up... NOW!

    We Will Rise
    Above (x2)

    Stereotype fools
    Playing the game
    Nothing Unique
    They all look the same
    In this Sea of Mediocrity
    I can be anything
    Anything I want to be

    I am the enemy
    I am the antidote
    Watch me closely
    I will stand up... NOW!
