It all depends on what you need your phone to do for you, but... three years is a long time for most people to be on a device.

Thanks. I just hope it has support for at least 2yrs. I know it's anybodys guess.

I just bought a used Passport on the weekend -- although I only set it up today. Coming from a Q10, it's a radically different experience in terms of getting used to the keyboard, but other than that, the speed, smoothness, and screen quality are also striking. I won't pretend to know the future, but as long as email, texting and messaging works, I'll gladly take the risk.

BlackBerry makes messaging and communicating machines, and until that changes I'm on board. So it's worth it, yes.

My Z10 is 3 years old and works better today than when I purchased. You should be a-ok. I would have recommended buying unlocked for immediate OS updates.

    Yes.

Only capitalist 'big business' says you have to buy an expensive new phone every 12 months. Common sense says a well-made phone can last for years and still make phone calls and send texts, which is presumably what mobile 'phones' are really meant for.

Typing this on an almost 5yr old 9900. So, yes, I'd expect the PassPort to perform communications fine. Browser security is biggest worry with my unsupported 9900. Which is why I also keep Classic, PassPort or Z30 handy for financial activities. Long term (3+yr?) battery life worries me most. A real pita to change out on my BB10s. Batt is still fine in my 2yr old Z30 tho, so... Here's to hoping...

Passport is a very robust device. I have been using the Black device since Sept. 2014 now almost 18 months. Haven't noticed any problems the battery life is very good. The PKB buttons have not showed any signs of wear and tear.

I would be worried about support. There are many issues with screen lift, broken screens and you want to make sure you could get it fixed. Plus app support is dropping further. Ultimately it's your choice though.

If you're truly passionate about BlackBerry 10, I'd buy it because there may not be anymore OS 10 devices in the future.

Buy it unlocked, direct and on sale. Then never wait for updates.

It's also, like other BB10 devices, not a success story, and has no future.

I got the SE recently and I'm fully expecting some pains getting it to do what I need. It was more of an experience a I've never owned a pkb BlackBerry before (z10/30 owner & Android daily driver)

At the very worst, it'll be my tablet cuz the screen is great and inputs are precise.

Tell us about the success story of the Priv.

As far as we know by selling numbers BB10 is more a success story than crapdroid Priv that's already a failure...
