Fact or Fake: What is the BlackBerry 9890 and 9850? | BlackBerry Leaks - Blackberry news, software, videos, info, reviews, previews

BB Leaks doesnt believe these are 100% real. Also, these would most likely be CDMA versions of the Torch for either Sprint or Verizon. That would help explain the OS6.3 to which BB Leaks thinks it is due to the 4G radio.

I'm not worried about these because I'm already with AT&T and still hope to be able to upgrade to the regular 9800.

I find it odd that they would choose "90" for CDMA Torch. The CDMA models, with the exception of the Storm2 tend to be "30".

    also 50.

but what is weird is that it says 4g, a gsm slider, and is not on att, which would suggest tmo.

but tmo is not getting 4g for another 2 yrs at least.

    things are not adding up........

someone said that its supposed to be in spanish, so thats why it might be spelled funky.

but why would BB be tested in spanish and not english?

its a lil fishy. iono, i dont think its real either. no evidence over here, just a hunch

i'd be surprised if RIM releases many more phones at this point, they just cut the price to $99 because of terrible sales of the torch, it's all downhill from here for RIM

I'm not saying I think it's real or fake but I do know that some Blackberry's are made in Mexico. This could be one used for testing of quality in Mexico.

    Just an idea.

Odds are these are both CDMA - for Verizon & Sprint.

A while back it was stated somewhere that one of the first LTE handsets for Verizon would be a BlackBerry, so its possible one of these is destined for Verizon's LTE network this winter.

Since Verizon & Sprint each use different 4G Technologies, it makes sense that there would in fact be two different 4G BlackBerry sliders - one for each carrier.

AT&T would not see either, as their 4G network is not supposed to be active for a while.

I'm not saying these photos are definitely real - but i'm saying it's feasible that they are in fact legitimate.

    the plot thickens.

I'm now a little glad about still being locked in for a year, as just when the waters seem to clear RIM stirs up the murk again.

Ummm....that article is totally inaccurate. Amazon and Wirefly have had the price at $99 since launch day, so there was no slashing of prices. Those companies typically offer a discount versus the carrier. Lookup the price of 9650 on Wirefly and compare it to Verizon...you will see the same discount.

If the 9890 is for T-Mobile, that means it will be HSPA+ 42MB or more capable which is coming sooner rather than later & can be considered 4G.
