Have we had any trusted source yet confirm the application memory on the 2011 line-up? We know RAM and Storage. But as far as I know, we have yet to see a picture, video or any 'in the know' populace confirm that the new devices' storage is where applications will be installed.

Only thing I've seen is the initial BGR leaks of specs for the "Storm 3"
Exclusive: BlackBerry Storm 3 shows up, tells all | BGR

if they're going promote 6.1 with OpenGL support for games, then you'd think they would make the internal memory (4gb, 6gb or 8gb I've seen in different leaks) usable for app installs.

Not sure how one follows the other. The S2 has Open GL (granted its 1.1) but the storage is only for documents and media, like all other BBs. And Storage varies by GSM or CDMA and device type. The Bold will be the flagship of 2011, with 6 gigs. The Monaco with 4.

    that's true.

i guess the encouraging part is I don’t think we’ve ever seen leaked specs showing separate app memory. It’s always been explicitly RAM and eMMc storage

Did they ever spec out the application memory seperately? I think we always just assumed if it had 512mg than we got 512 mgs for OS and apps. If it had 250 we got 250. Storage has always been just for Media and Documents. Given that a change like this is far more grounbreaking of a shift from all previous OSes, I would think this would be highlighted most. Sure NFC, Magnometer and Open GL 2.2 are super cool, but if your limited to the 768- OS who really cares? It's the possibility that RIM has opened up the storage to applications, that is a monumental shift in 6.1. Assuming they have.

I think it's one of the biggest mysteries right now. Some say the drastic hardware changes mean this will be possible. Others say the software is still based on old architecture so it will only be the 768MB will be all that's available.
