I downloaded the 5.0 for my Curve 8900, installed it onto my computer, uninstalled all previous OS versions, and then plugged the phone in, opened Desktop Manager, ran Application Loader, then Update Software and it keeps comming up with 4.6 and not 5.0 at all. I don't even have 4.6 on my computer, just on my phone. I've looked and looked for answers but I keep finding myself running in circles. I am quite technologically savey too, but for some reason I just can't figure this one out at all.. Please help asap! Thank you very much.

I really don't know what to say. But I will tell you that Desktop Manager is
doing you a big favor by not wanting to install it.

Try upgrading your DM to 5.0.

If you are trying to upgrade to a beta release, DM won't do it for you. You need to run the apploader.exe directly.

Actually it will if the OP has deleted the vendor file.

Something else must be going on. Had no trouble loading betas for my 8310 (8 maybe) and the last three 5.0 betas without a hitch on my 8900. Still using good old DM4.6. (Its the most stable DM available, imho.). Never removed the previous versions of 4.5 or 5.0. from the loader files. No need, unless you need the drive space. Anyway, DM does all the work, determines which OS is on the BB and looks in the loader files to see if there's a newer version available. As long as the vendor.xml file has been deleted it just loads the new OS. No special tricks necessary. The right DM does it, and has the advantage of backing everything up beforehand, automatically...something the apploader.exe file won't do for you.
