Load of bullcrap. There are many UK users successfully running Bold with 3G. More likely the problem is coverage or the overloaded Orange 3G network, and their initial release with unstable software in the rush to grab sales. The other operators all held off for a week or two and delivered improved software.
Not all operators use the same vendors' equipment in their network and the same software revisions in that equipment. Could well be a compatibility issue. Been there, seen that before....
